Today we celebrated Pi Day! If you are not familiar with the idea of Pi Day here is a short explanation courtesy of the Pi Day website.
Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. Pi Day is an annual opportunity for math enthusiasts to recite the infinite digits of Pi, talk to their friends about math, and to eat Pie.
Mr Livio, our Business and Math teacher here at BCISB brought Pi Day to us today and what a fun afternoon of mathematics we had.
Parents, staff and students visited the activities in our gymnasium with a bake sale to go along with the idea of Pi/Pie.
Our school takes every opportunity for learning in unique ways and today was one of those ‘outside the classroom’ moments.
